About Maria Demertzis
I am Professor of Economic Policy at the European University Institute in Florence (part-time), and I advise on geoeconomic issues. Previously, I have been the Chief Economist and Leader of the ESF centre at the Conference Board Europe, and before that the Deputy Director at Bruegel, a Brussels-based Economic think tan. I have worked at the European Commission, the Research Department of the Dutch Central Bank, Harvard Kennedy School, the University of Amsterdam and the University of Strathclyde. I have published in international peer-reviewed journals and books (all papers available in my Ideas page) and I am a regular speaker in international conferences, policy forums and central banks. I enjoy the process of writing and presenting as the only way to crystalise one's views. I have a column at the Money&Review section in Kathimerini which also appears in El Economista and periodically also in other national press. Naturally all views presented are my own and do not reflect (necessarily) official views of the institutions I am associated with. In this website I keep a record of all my writings.
